Our Journal, Our Community
An open-access journal with little to no APC
Did you know that InterPore Journal is more than just another publication outlet? It’s our society’s own open-access journal — created by and for the porous media community. Open to both members and non-members, it provides a trusted platform for sharing research while ensuring equitable access worldwide.
To help launch the journal, all articles submitted before 2025 were published free of charge. From 2025 onward, a minimal article processing charge (APC) has been introduced — not to drive profit, but to ensure sustainability and to support colleagues in need.
Here’s how the APC Waiver Fund works:
- 20% of every APC paid is added to the InterPore APC Fund.
- InterPore supplements the accumulated sum to reach a total of €20,000 at the beginning of each year (the initial contribution at the start of 2025 was €20,000).
- Waivers and discounts are granted against this allocation throughout the year.
- At year’s end, any unused credit is released, and a new allocation begins for the following year.
Automatic waivers and discounts apply for authors from low- and lower-middle-income countries, and full or partial waivers are readily available upon request for others in genuine financial need.
By submitting your work, you are strengthening our community’s journal — one that reinvests in its members and ensures that high-quality research remains accessible to all.
