InterPore PoreLab Award for Young Researchers
The InterPore PoreLab Award for Young Researchers (formerly Fraunhofer Award for Young Researchers) is given to a young researcher in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of porous media from a fundamental point of view. The research may be theoretical, computational, or experimental. The award is made possible by a generous grant from PoreLab, a Center of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway and situated at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the University of Oslo. Please note that the selection criteria have been updated for the 2024/2025 awards cycle. For details, visit New Selection Criteria for 2024/25 Awards Cycle.
Award Benefits
- €1,000 travel grant to participate in the InterPore meeting where the award ceremony will be held.
- Optional research stay at PoreLab: The awardee may choose to spend up to 60 days within one year after receiving the award at PoreLab in Norway (NTNU or the University of Oslo). This can be arranged over up to four visits. If selected, the awardee must submit a declaration of intent before the InterPore Award Ceremony, outlining the agreed agenda with PoreLab.
- Financial support for the research stay:
- €50 per day stipend (up to 60 days)
- Travel and accommodation reimbursement (upon receipt submission, covered directly by PoreLab)
Eligibility
- Nominees must be PhD students or Postdoc researchers who obtained their PhD no more than three years before the nomination deadline.
- Nominees must be members of InterPore, except for those from Low- and Middle-Income (LMI) countries as defined by the World Bank.
Nomination Guidelines
To nominate a candidate, please complete the nomination form at the bottom of this page and upload the required documents as instructed.
A complete nomination package must include:
- Full CV of the candidate
Nomination letter (maximum two pages) describing the nominee’s contributions to porous media research over the last 10 years (excluding the current year). The letter should conclude with a citation statement. Example:
"This nominee has made outstanding contributions to the physics of transport in porous media in several fields, such as non-Newtonian fluid flow, drying and imbibition, colloidal transport, mass transfer in wood, and the use of NMR for imaging."
- Up to two additional supporting letters (maximum two pages each)
- Related documentation (publications, reports) supporting the nomination
Submission Details
- The nominator must be an InterPore member.
- Self-nominations are not accepted.
