Dr. Jeffrey Hyman is a Staff Scientist and Team Leader in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he directs the Advanced Computational Geosciences Initiative (ACGI). His research focuses on the physics of flow and reactive transport in fractured and porous media, combining applied mathematics, high-performance computational simulation, and machine learning to understand how coupled processes control mixing and reactive transport across scales from pore to field. He is the principal developer of dfnWorks, a 2017 R&D 100 Award-winning open-source platform for three-dimensional discrete fracture network simulation. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at Colorado School of Mines and serves as Program Director for Geosciences at SIAM (2025-2027). He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Hydrology and Water Resources from the University of Arizona in 2014 and has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles.
