InterPore Foundation Welcomes Eric Morales-Casique to the Board as Communications Officer
We are very pleased to have Eric Morales-Casique join the board of the InterPore Foundation. He will take on the role of communications officer with a focus on maintaining our website content. We are very grateful to Ann Hansen for her contributions to that role and for her recommendation of Eric as her replacement.
Eric is a Professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He received his PhD from the University of Arizona (USA) in 2004, with a dissertation on stochastic theory of non-reactive solute transport in heterogeneous porous media. He subsequently held postdoctoral positions at the University of Arizona and Utrecht University (Netherlands), where he became involved with InterPore. In 2011 he joined the Geology Institute of UNAM, and in 2014 he contributed to the creation of the Mexican National InterPore Chapter, serving as Vice-chair and later as Chair of its steering committee (2016–2020). His research focuses on the regional-scale characterization of hydrogeologic systems, field-scale aquifer heterogeneity, and local-scale land subsidence in highly compressible aquitards driven by intensive pumping in multi-aquifer systems.
