Lifetime Achievement Medal

The InterPore Lifetime Achievement Medal (formerly Honorary Lifetime Membership Award) is the highest honor awarded by InterPore, reserved for individuals who have made extraordinary and lasting contributions to porous media science and technology. Recipients of this prestigious award are globally recognized leaders in the porous media community, embodying the aims and ideals of InterPore.

A typical nominee for this medal will have:

  • A substantial number of highly-cited research papers.
  • Experience as an editor or associate editor of one or more journals.
  • A record of organizing major conferences.
  • Delivered invited or keynote lectures at numerous international meetings.
  • Authored books or other significant works on porous media topics.
  • Received other major recognitions or awards in the field.

The award will be conferred to only one individual per year, underscoring its exclusivity and significance.

The recipient will receive:

  • A certificate recognizing their lifetime achievements.
  • Lifetime InterPore membership.
  • A travel grant of €1,000 to facilitate participation in the next InterPore conference and to accept the award in person.
  • An InterPore rosette as a symbol of distinction.

Nomination Guidelines

Nominations for the InterPore Lifetime Achievement Medal are invited from all branches of porous media science and technology. We encourage the nomination of truly outstanding individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced the field and enriched the porous media research community, including InterPore.

Nomination Package Requirements

A complete nomination package must include:

  1. Nomination Letter
    • Maximum length: two pages.
    • Should describe the nominee’s specific contributions to porous media research over the last 10 years (excluding the current year).
    • Must conclude with a citation statement summarizing the nominee's achievements. Example:
      “This nominee has made outstanding contributions to the physics of transport in porous media in several fields, such as non-Newtonian fluid flow, drying and imbibition, colloidal transport, mass transfer in wood, and the use of NMR for imaging.”
  2. Candidate’s CV
    • Maximum length: ten pages.
  3. List of Publications
  4. Supporting Letters
    • Up to four letters may be included.
    • Each letter should not exceed two pages.
Eligibility and Submission Details
  • Nominator Requirements: The nominator must be an InterPore member.
  • Nominee Requirements: Membership in InterPore is not required for the nominee or for those providing supporting letters.
  • Self-nominations: Not accepted.

The nomination should emphasize the nominee’s most significant achievements and clearly outline their contributions to the porous media research community, and including their involvement with InterPore.
