Structure and Responsibilities of the InterPore Council
The Council is the legislative and controlling body of the Society.
Composition:
The Council consists of 15 members:
- Five Executive Committee members
- Nine Ordinary Members elected directly by InterPore members
- One student representative, serving as the Chair of the Student Affairs Committee
The Chair of the Council is elected from among the Ordinary Members of the Council by a simple majority vote every two years.
Duties:
The Council is responsible for:
- Overseeing the general affairs of the Society
- Approving the list of candidates for President-Elect and Council members (proposed by the Executive Committee)
- Reviewing and endorsing the annual financial report prepared by the Executive Committee
- Approving amendments to the Society's bylaws
- Selecting and appointing the Managing Director and Treasurer (from nominees proposed by a Search Committee)
- Removing any officer of the Society, if necessary
This structure ensures that the Council operates as an effective governing body to uphold the mission and integrity of the Society.
