Roseanne Ford
Dr. Roseanne Ford is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia, United States. Her research centers on the transport of microorganisms in porous media and its impact on bioremediation and other environmental processes. Her laboratory uses experimental, computational and theoretical modeling approaches that encompass a wide range of length and time scales to study the role of chemotaxis in bacterial transport. She received her PhD from University of Pennsylvania and has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles and presented research findings at over 150 technical conferences. A participant in InterPore since 2016, Dr. Ford has served as a mini-symposium co-convener for InterPore Annual Conferences, invited speaker, and the Technical Programming Committee 2021-2025. She also served as associate editor of Water Resources Research. Dr. Ford has significant leadership in professional service roles including department chair, associate vice president for graduate studies, advisory boards, conference planning committees and activities to broaden student participation in the profession.
I have long appreciated and greatly benefited from InterPoreās interdisciplinary nature and broad-reaching impact across scientific communities. As a member of the InterPore Council, I would work to foster this collaborative spirit, with particular emphasis on expanding engagement with the life sciences. My background in microbial processes, coupled with recent research focused on lung infections, has underscored for me the value of connecting diverse disciplines to address pressing challenges in environmental sustainability and human health.
