Exciting Fully-Funded PhD Opportunity in IMPRES Group- Starting September 2025

a 4-year fully-funded PhD position as part of the Bicentenary [linkedin.com] PhD Studentships at the University of Manchester. The project, titled: "Coupled Optimisation of Flow Field and Gas Diffusion Layer in PEM Electrolysers and Fuel Cells: A Simulation, Machine Learning, and Experimental Approach," offers a unique opportunity to engage in excellent interdisciplinary research.

I am seeking an exceptional, committed and highly motivated individual who excels in a collaborative team environment.

Technical Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
1️⃣ Demonstrated motivation and commitment to conducting outstanding research.
2️⃣ Previous research experience in flow and transport within porous media.
3️⃣ An MSc degree (with a high-first-class GPA) in mechanical or chemical engineering from a top-tier university.
4️⃣ Proficiency in programming (in any of C++/C#/Python/Fortran) for solving PDEs.
5️⃣ A proven track record of original research output.

Knowledge of electrochemistry would be considered an advantage.
