Join us in June for the following specialized course, "PORE 2-3 Machine Learning application in Porous Media: from image processing to multiscale models" which will be lectured by Gege Wen, Assistant Professor at Imperial College London, co-appointed by Earth Science Engineering and I-X (Imperial AI).

This course will explore the intersection of machine learning and porous media research, providing participants with theoretical foundations and practical applications. Students will learn how AI models can accelerate porous media analysis through advanced image processing techniques, including segmentation, super-resolution, and synthetic image generation. The course covers parameter estimation from imaging data and dynamic modeling of transport phenomena in complex porous structures.

The course will take place on the following Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00-21:00 British Summer Time (17:00 to 20:00 Central European Summer Time): June 24th, June 26th, July 1st, & July 3rd.

Join us in July for the following new topical course, "PORE 3-2: Fundamentals of Geothermal Reservoir Engineering" which will be lectured by Rita Esuru Okoroafor, an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University.

This course provides a comprehensive foundation in geothermal reservoir engineering, emphasizing both theory and practical applications. Participants will explore geothermal energy fundamentals, fluid and heat flow dynamics, multiphase systems, reservoir heterogeneity, and energy conversion. Advanced topics include Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), closed-loop designs, oil and gas well conversions, thermal energy storage optimization, power plant efficiency calculations, and geothermal reserve estimation. The course will equip participants with the skills to address challenges in geothermal reservoir optimization and energy production through hands-on simulations using analytical and proxy models, and real-world case studies.

This course will take place on the following dates from 8:00-11:00 am Central Daylight Time (15:00 to 18:00 Central European Summer Time): July 9th, 10th, 16th, & 17th.
