The end of August is near, which means InterPore2020 is about to start! The organizers are obviously thrilled to see that everything is working out well, as Manish Kumar told us before. And all eventgoers are obviously thrilled to see the latest developments in porous media science. One more week and the party starts!

The summer in The Netherlands is very warm these weeks. I am fortunate to spend a little bit of time close to the beach (and on it, of course!). It does give a sense of tranquility. Meanwhile, InterPore is also coming forward with two refreshing news items: Our new website is launched and we have become member of the ISC.

Only a few weeks left before InterPore2020 starts! Exciting for everyone and perhaps a little bit nerve-wracking for those running the show from behind the curtains! Meanwhile, the block program has become available, and you (if you are a presenter) will soon be notified of the time and date of your Q&A session.

Moreover, we asked invited speakers to create graphical abstracts representing their talks. Please have a look! It is fascinating to see the scope of “Porous Media Research”.

The summer holidays have arrived or are approaching fast for the northern hemisphere. For many it may not be summer holidays as usual. Nevertheless, I hope everyone finds some place and time to relax and get your mind off of things.

Our InterPore community is rich with beautiful science. Read about microscale chemical gradients, bacteria being in different places in our solar systems, 4D synchrotron of imbibition and advanced modeling of charged species. The InterPore community goes online: a new webinar series in initiated by young researchers (Porous Media TTT) reaching out to you to discuss their latest scientific achievements. And if you’re not near Stuttgart, Germany, you can still join their lectures.
