PORE 1-3: Multiphase Flow and Transport in Porous Media
This course will provide participants with an introduction to the basic principles of multiphase flow in porous media.
Course Topics:
• Fluid displacement in a capillary tube, the role of interfacial tensions and wetting, Navier-Stokes Equations
• Flow regimes and wetting, capillary number, and viscosity ratios
• Drainage, imbibition, and steady state flow
• Darcy’s law for multiphase flow, pending questions
• Special cases I:, gasses, three-phase flow, emulsions
• Special cases II: species transport during multiphase flow, non-Newtonian
