Yashar Mehmani is an assistant professor in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, with affiliations in the Institute of Energy and the Environment (IEE) and the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS). He received his BS from Sharif University of Technology in Iran and his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, both in Petroleum Engineering. He was a postdoctoral fellow and research scientist at Stanford University's Energy Resources Engineering Department (2015–2020). His research focuses on the fundamental physics of fluid flow and solid deformation in porous materials, with emphasis on pore-scale modeling and theory, multiscale methods, and applications to energy and environmental systems.
