I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota, USA. My research focuses on mixing and reactive transport in fractured and porous media. I combine pore-scale numerical simulations, microfluidic experiments, and pore network modeling to understand mixing, reactions, and the effects of mineral dissolution and precipitation on flow and transport. Before joining the University of Minnesota, I earned my M.S. from the University of Stuttgart in Germany and my B.S. in Shanghai, China. Studying and conducting research in different countries has given me the opportunity to work with people from diverse backgrounds and has shown me the value of an inclusive and supportive scientific community.

I am excited to run for the InterPore Student Affairs Committee because InterPore is the scientific community where I feel the strongest sense of belonging. It has become my favorite conference, not only because of the outstanding research but also because of the welcoming and supportive environment. As a student member, I have greatly benefited from the InterPore community through SAC-organized career development events and networking opportunities, as well as events such as the Porous Media Tea Time talks. These experiences have helped me grow professionally, connect with researchers at different career stages, and feel more engaged with the community. Volunteering at the 2026 InterPore Annual Meeting also allowed me to see how much effort and dedication from community members contribute to the success of the conference, inspiring me to become more involved and give back to InterPore.

If elected, one of my main priorities would be expanding career development opportunities for students. In particular, I would like to promote opportunities for students to take active roles at InterPore meetings, such as serving as session co-moderators alongside experienced researchers. I was fortunate to co-moderate a mini-symposium session, and the experience greatly improved my confidence, communication skills, and understanding of the conference organization process. I hope to help make these valuable experiences more accessible to students while encouraging greater student participation, leadership, and interaction within the InterPore community.
