Eric Morales-Casique is a Professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He received his PhD from the University of Arizona (USA) in 2004, with a dissertation on stochastic theory of non-reactive solute transport in heterogeneous porous media. He subsequently held postdoctoral positions at the University of Arizona and Utrecht University (Netherlands), where he became involved with InterPore. In 2011 he joined the Geology Institute of UNAM, and in 2014 he contributed to the creation of the Mexican National InterPore Chapter, serving as Vice-chair and later as Chair of its steering committee (2016–2020). His research focuses on the regional-scale characterization of hydrogeologic systems, field-scale aquifer heterogeneity, and local-scale land subsidence in highly compressible aquitards driven by intensive pumping in multi-aquifer systems.
