Newsletter featuring Registration InterPore2025 open

Sent on: 09-12-2025

Editorial

Dear InterPore colleagues,

First and foremost, we would like to alert you to reports of spoofing emails making their rounds among some members of the community. See the note directly below, and please be wary when opening any email.

On a lighter note, early bird registration has opened, so it is a good time to start making travel arrangements. My wife has been checking out the "Must see in Albuquerque" and making enough plans for a full week of holidays. Well, maybe that would work for a longer stay, but I'll be joining in for all the great science being presented by junior and senior researchers. Also, the Issue 1-2025 of the InterPore Journal has been released! Enjoy reading.

All the best,

Matthijs de Winter
Editor-in-Chief
InterPore News

Currently, deceptive emails impersonating personnel at InterPore are in circulation. In particular, emails from a "Maria Taylor" via Docusign have been reported. While they look convincing, these are not official emails from InterPore. They may include malicious links, requests for personal information, or harmful attachments. We suggest immediate deletion of these emails.

To protect yourself, remember:

  • InterPore will never ask for sensitive personal or financial information via email.
  • Official emails from InterPore will always come from an @interpore.org email address.
  • If in doubt, do not click on any links or open attachments. Instead, contact us directly at info@interpore.org to verify the message.

Stay vigilant, and thank you for your cooperation.

Submissions for posters and online presentations are still being accepted.

Registration is now open for in-person and online participation at InterPore2025! Register before Friday, 21 March to qualify for early bird registration fees!

To help interested participants coordinate and share hotel rooms, we have set up a Room-Sharing Coordination Sheet on Google Docs. If you're looking for a roommate to split costs, you can add your details and connect with other attendees.

How it works:

  1. Add your information to the sheet, including check-in/out dates and preferences.
  2. Browse existing entries and reach out to potential matches directly.
  3. Once you find a match, update the "Match Found?" column to help others.

Please Note: This is a self-organized initiative, for which InterPore is only providing the platform for coordination. We do not manage, facilitate, or take responsibility for room-sharing arrangements—participants are responsible for making their own connections and agreements.

InterPore2025 is just months away! Help us make it an inclusive event by supporting conference grants for researchers from economically disadvantaged countries.

Our goal: 8 grants (4000 € total)—and we’re already 28% funded! With your support, we can exceed our target and ensure more voices are heard. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

Thank you for your generosity!

– The InterPore Foundation Board

The deadline for submitting poster and online presentations for InterPore2025 is fast approaching! Please ensure your submissions are completed by Sunday, 20 April 2025.

If you would prefer to give an oral presentation, please let us know by emailing conference2025@interpore.org. While oral presentation slots are currently full, withdrawals may occur, and we will allocate any available slots to those who have expressed interest.

The long-term evolution of an aqueous droplet, possibly containing particles such as pigments and viruses or solute such as ions and polymers, and reaching the surface of a paper, a wood piece, a biobased construction wall, a natural fabric or a mask, is of strong interest. It governs the humidification of structures, affecting their durability and the user’s comfort and influences the final distribution and state of the suspended elements, impacting printing quality and the bacteria or viruses development.
Relying on MRI and NMR techniques which allow to distinguish the different water phases and their transport over time, we show that the water is in fact rapidly absorbed in the nanopores inside the cellulose fibers and then fully diffuses through the surrounding material.
