16th Annual Meeting & Conference Courses
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee of InterPore2024, Jun Yao welcomed participants to Qingdao for the 16th Annual Meeting. This conference was the major annual event for the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) General Chair, offering a unique opportunity to meet new colleagues, reconnect with old friends and collaborators, and, most importantly, exchange information, share findings, and develop new ideas and concepts through interactions.
Over 800 participants were expected, with more than 10 sponsors and exhibitors in attendance. Plenty of opportunities were available for attendees to visit their stands and learn about the valuable services and products offered to the porous media community.
The week ahead was packed with scientific activities and cultural experiences. Participants were invited to take part in the Chinese Art Event on Tuesday, where they could explore the intricate artistry of calligraphy and paper cutting. Not only could they witness the beauty of these crafts, but they also had the opportunity to try them for themselves. Laboratory tours were also scheduled during the visit, with more details available on the conference website.
As Qingdao is a renowned international sailing capital, the city boasted numerous attractions inviting further exploration. Participants could join a walk along the seashore on Wednesday, visiting famous landmarks such as May Fourth Square, the Olympic Sailing Center, Lover Dam, and Yeer Island. The event also featured a spectacular light show. Attendees were encouraged to enjoy the delicious seafood and fresh Qingdao beer, visit the Qingdao Museum, and explore the beer street, where they could sample freshly brewed beer and a variety of Chinese food.
