InterPore2023
15th International Conference on Porous Media
InterPore2023 was hosted in Edinburgh, marking the first InterPore conference ever held in the UK. The UK, with its long-standing tradition in porous media research, played a significant role in the past, present, and future of Heriot-Watt University. A key theme in porous media, the understanding and use of the subsurface, particularly the interaction between fluid mechanics and rock mechanics, was central to the conference. Heriot-Watt had been, and continues to be, at the forefront of petroleum-related research, while increasingly focusing on research areas in the energy transition, such as carbon storage, hydrogen, and geothermal energy.
The conference welcomed friends and colleagues from around the world to Edinburgh, with a special focus on the energy transition, highlighted through several dedicated events at InterPore2023.
Participants were encouraged to enjoy not only the scientific program but also the city itself. The venue, located in the heart of the city, provided easy access to social activities, Edinburgh's vibrant cultural scene, and its surrounding natural beauty. The Local Organizing Committee, in collaboration with InterPore, worked to create an event that attendees would remember fondly for years to come. The committee looked forward to meeting as many participants as possible during the event.
