On the 11th and 12th of April, the Benelux Interpore chapter held the first Benelux Interpore Chapter meeting in Luxembourg on the topic: Porous Media in Computational Biology and Soft Tissue.

Among others, we learned about poro-mechanics and fluid transport in biological context, experimentation and computational approaches in this context alongside many interesting examples of applications. We discussed various examples in medicine from liver perfusion, development of tumours, Parkinson‘s disease to training of surgeons.

We would like to thank the organizers of the 6th Benlux Interpore Chapter meeting 2024: Anas Obeidat, Stephane Urcun, Sorin Pop and Fred Vermolen.

At the meeting, we also held the annual Benelux Interpore chapter committee meeting. With many founding members of this chapter leaving and new members joining, we can proudly announce the handover of the committee to the next Generation.

We would like to thank the following Benelux Interpore committee members for their services, enthusiasm and dedication:

The BeNeLux chapter means to me the point in time when the porous media community in this region became fully visible in terms of numbers and impact. The highlight during my committee membership was the actual kick-off of the chapter. – Steffen Berg

As the new chair of the Interpore Benelux Chapter, I would also like to thank our former chapter chair Sorin Pop.

Bringing the Interpore chapter Award to Benelux and arranging for the first Interpore Chapter Meeting in Luxembourg were his major achievements.
