Dear InterPore friends,
Who is going to sing at InterPore2021? Please find out below…and join!
We have some changes in the organization with the regular coming and going of committee members and a
chairperson position. After 13 years, InterPore is prospering, and still plenty of potential is to
be reached worldwide as seen in a new InterPore Chapter that has been formed in Israel, formally
starting very soon.
Meanwhile, I am working hard to get my presentation ready for InterPore2021. It can already be
uploaded, so not a minute to waste!
All the best,
Matthijs de Winter

InterPore News
Many students struggle with the decision of which career path to follow after the PhD. Should I
pursue an academic career or search for possibilities in industry or governmental agencies? What are
the pros (and cons) of each career path? What does the life-after-PhD feel like? To help shed light
onto these big questions, the Students Affairs
Committee has invited four established professionals to share their personal views and
experiences:
University of
Bergen, Norway
Heriot-Watt University, UK
Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands
University of Stuttgart, Germany
In this session, we will NOT hear about their latest research results but instead about their
different career paths, and the important choices they had to make along the way.
Social Media Task Force
Dr. Hamed Aslannejad
As previously announced, Serveh Kamrava will be the new chair of the Social Media Task
Force. It also means that Dr. Hamed Aslannejad will be stepping down as chair.
Starting in early 2017, Hamed became the first to chair the task force. Under his leadership, this
important body has taken shape and played an important role in publicizing InterPore and its
activities on several social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn). The
Executive Committee is grateful to Hamed and all members of the task force for their most valuable
support of InterPore. We certainly hope that InterPore continues to benefit from Hamed’s experience,
enthusiasm, and ideas in reaching its goals and objectives.
New members on InterPore Council
On behalf of the council, I would like to thank the outgoing members of the InterPore

Abriola, Prof. Tissa
Illangasekare, Dr. Steffen Berg and Dr. Marcel Moura – for their

better because of their dedicated involvement.
It is my pleasure to welcome the new members of the InterPore Council: Prof. Karsten Thompson, Dr. Masa
Prodanovic, Dr. Maja
Rücker, and Dr.
Mohammad Nooraiepour.
You can find the complete council here.
Sincerely yours,
Vahid Joekar-Niasar
