The 17th National Conference on Fluid Dynamics in Porous Media was successfully held in Beijing Sinopec Conference Center from August 17th to 20th. The conference was organized by the Chinese Society of Mechanics and hosted by China University of Petroleum (Beijing). InterPore China chapter co-organized this conference. InterPore China chapter honorary chair Jun Yao, chair Moran Wang, general secretary Yongfei Yang and general secretary Ke Xu served as the conference’s vice chairs.

More than 500 scholars participated this conference. The conference set a main venue ten parallel sessions, with more than 200 speakers sharing their recent research advances. The presentations highlighted new developments in transport and mechanics in porous media, focusing on energy recovery & utilization, subsurface environmental problems, aerospace engineering and biophysics. Specifically, the conference set a special session on undergraduate course development about transport in porous media. It is the largest live event ever co-organized by InterPore China chapter.
