Anne M. Hansen is a water specialist at the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA), where she is carrying out research and leading projects on characterization of contamination issues and restauration of water bodies, sediments, and soil. She earned her Ph.D. in Marine Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she is lecturer and tutor at the Graduate Program of Environmental Engineering. Dr. Hansen’s work focuses on natural attenuation processes of contaminants and the development of models to describe load balances and interactions between aqueous media and porous sediment, and soil at different scales. She has served as leader of numerous environmental engineering initiatives. Dr. Hansen was president of the Mexican Chapter of InterPore (2020-2022), and represents Mexico in the International Sediment Initiative (ISI ) of the Hydrological Intergovernmental Program for Latin America and the Caribbean (PHI-LAC), UNESCO (2018 to present).
