Alex Hansen is professor of theoretical physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Center Director for PoreLab – Porous Media Laboratory, a Centre of Excellence funded by The Research Council of Norway. His field of research is exploring the border between statistical mechanics and fluid mechanics.  From 2024 he holds an ERC (European Research Council) Advanced Grant AGIPORE focused on the scaling up problem in immiscible two-phase flow in porous media.
