Call for nominations for InterPore awards

The nomination campaign is open for the following InterPore awards:

Honorary Lifetime Membership Award

The Honorary Membership Award is reserved for individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to porous media science and technology, who are world renowned in the porous media community, and whose contributions are consistent with the aims and ideals of InterPore. A typical candidate is not only a pioneer in his/her field, but also has been the (founding) editor of one or more journal(s), has served on editorial boards of major journals, has organized many scientific events, and/or has written classic books on the subject. This award will be given to only one individual per year. The award consists of a certificate, lifetime InterPore membership, and a travel grant of 1,000 € for participation in the InterPore Annual Meeting and Conference.

Nomination packages should include:

  • a nomination letter (maximum length two pages)
  • the candidate’s CV (maximum length ten pages)
  • list of publications
  • up to five supporting letters (maximum length two pages each)

Nominations of truly outstanding candidates are solicited from all branches of porous media science and technology. Nominator and supporters must be members of InterPore. The nominee does not have to be a member.

The nomination should highlight the most important achievements of the candidate and give a clear account of his/her contributions to the porous media community and to the advancement of ideals and aims of InterPore. Nominations should be submitted to nomination@interpore.org.

InterPore – PoreLab Award for Young Researchers

The International Society for Porous Media, InterPore, on behalf of PoreLab, a center of excellence jointly formed by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the University of Oslo, announces a Young Researcher Award in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of porous media from a fundamental point of view. The research may be theoretical, computational, or experimental.

Nominees must be PhD students or Postdoc researchers who obtained the PhD degree no longer than three years before the award nomination deadline.

Nomination packages should include:

  • a full CV of the candidate
  • a nomination letter (maximum length two pages) including explicit reference to the candidate’s contributions to the field
  • up to two supporting letters (maximum length two pages)
  • related documentation (publications, reports) supporting the nomination

Please note that nominees, nominator, and supporters must be members of InterPore. Nomination packages should be submitted to nomination@interpore.org.

The award recipient will be given a stipend of 1,500 € per month for up to three months the residence of PoreLab, either at the NTNU or the University of Oslo. PoreLab will pay for the travel and housing expenses connected with the stay. The awardee will receive an award certificate, an InterPore rosette, and free registration at the following Annual Meeting of InterPore, where the award will be presented to the recipient.

InterPore-Procter & Gamble Award for Porous Media Research

The InterPore Procter and Gamble Award for Porous Media Research is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to topics related to swelling porous media, very thin porous media, and the modelling of interfaces between porous media. The candidate must have made major contributions to the literature on those subject areas. The award includes both 5,000 € and an award certificate.

Nomination packages should include:

  • a nomination letter (maximum length two pages) including explicit reference to the contributions to the aforementioned topics
  • up to two supporting letters (maximum length two pages)
  • copies of related publications (in electronic format) supporting the contributions of the nominee to the aforementioned topics. A specific requirement is that these contributions should have been published in the last five years preceding the year of nomination.
  • a full CV of the nominee (maximum length two pages), including a full publication list
  • nominees must be members of InterPore

Kimberly-Clark Distinguished Lectureship

Each year, InterPore selects a porous media researcher with a very high international standing as the “InterPore Kimberly-Clark Distinguished Lecturer on Porous Media Science & Technology”. The Lectureship award is sponsored by a gift from the Kimberly-Clark Corporation to the InterPore Foundation. The awardee will share a topic relevant to the industrial porous media community through a series of lectures at various member and non-member organizations.

The Awardee will be selected by the InterPore Foundation at the recommendation of a selection committee. Nominations should be submitted to foundation@interpore.org. The nomination letter (maximum length two pages) should include explicit reference to the nominee’s outstanding record as a lecturer and the significance of her/his research for industrial porous media.

Once the awardee is selected, member and non-member organizations are invited to submit an application form to be considered as a host to the lecturer. The host organization will be responsible for local expenses. All travel expenses will be covered by the InterPore Foundation.
