7th Brazil InterPore Chapter Meeting – Submit your abstracts until June 30th!
The Federal University of Pará (UFPA), in collaboration with the Brazil InterPore Chapter, is proud to announce the 7th edition of the Brazil InterPore Chapter Conference on Porous Media, 7th Brazil Interpore, which will take place in Salinópolis, Pará, Brazil, from August 12-14, 2024.
The 7th InterPore Brazil Conference on Porous Media continues the tradition of successful events initiated by the Brazilian chapter of the International Society for Porous Media. The 7th event will be held in Salinópolis, a fishing and tourist village in the Amazon Region. Now with 40,000 inhabitants, this location has a broad scientific context, including the importance of mangrove zones, strong coastal dynamics, the need to reduce CO2 emissions linked to various industries, and its central role in climate discussions, especially with the upcoming COP-30.
We look forward to welcoming academics, industry professionals, and enthusiasts to Salinópolis, Pará, to explore the frontiers of porous media research. Some of the keynote speakers confirmed for the 7th Brazil Interpore are experienced researchers: Rainer Helmig (University of Stuttgart), Massimiliano Ferronato (University of Padova), Tito Bonagamba (University of São Paulo), Edvaldo Sabadini (University of Campinas), Celso Peres (University of Santa Catarina), and Mathias Steiner (IBM).

About Brazil InterPore
The Brazilian Chapter of Interpore was created on October 20, 2014, during the First IMPA Interpore – Workshop on Porous Media, held at the Brazilian National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), in Rio de Janeiro. More than 50 researchers attended this meeting, from Brazilian and international universities, as well as from companies.

- Creating an overview and database of the Brazilian research groups focused on porous media studies
- Establishing the expertise and knowledge exchange between academia and industry on the problems associated with porous media
- Organization of regular national meetings
- Promoting publication of Research Spotlights in the InterPore Newsletter

The 4th Brazil Interpore Chapter Meeting (4th BR-Interpore) took place in Brazil from 2-4 August 2021, totally free of charge.
The 4th BR-Interpore is a new Brazilian forum for discussing on advances and disseminating knowledge for the understanding, description, and mathematical and modeling foundations of natural and industrial porous media systems in the lines of InterPore https://www.interpore.org/
We ran 4th BR-Interpore in full virtual conference mode, August 2-3 keeping in mind the worldwide time zones. We had 222 participants from 21 countries around the world, 166 from Brazil and 56 from abroad (South America, USA, Europe, Asia), from academia and industry (Professionals, Graduate Students, Post-Docs and Professors).

We will (attempt to) run 5th in Rio Grande do Norte, in the North East of Brazil, in the first or second week of August 2022.

Fulfillment of the BRAZIL INTERPORE CHAPTER MISSION and supporting strategic goals were accomplished in the 4th Brazil Interpore Chapter Meeting through the action items:
1) Spread the Brazilian Chapter and InterPore to Academia and Industry in BRAZIL, but in close connection with the International Interpore community as well.
2) Continuous Improvement of a knowledge-sharing forum for exchanging ideas and expertise on natural and industrial porous media systems.

- Brazil InterPore Chapter was the winner of the 2019 InterPore National Chapter Award:
The Brazil Chapter had a very significant increase of its members over the past period. Furthermore, the chapter organized a meeting with international participation and a special session in the 32nd Brazilian Colloquium of Mathematics: Mathematical and Numerical Aspects in Fluid Dynamics. We especially acknowledge the effort placed into the aim of establishing contacts and cooperation with other countries/Chapters.
