InterPore Mexico Meetings – InterPore Mexico Kick-off Meeting

We are pleased to announce the formation of the Mexican Chapter of InterPore (MX-InterPore), the first regional associate of the InterPore in America.

The idea of the creation of the Mexican Chapter of InterPore was originated during the visit of the UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) of Professor S. Majid Hassanizadeh on September 24th, 2012. Hence, a sponsor committee integrated by Martín A. Díaz-Viera (Mexican Petroleum Institute), Abel Hernández-Ochoa (Electrical Research Institute), Graciela Herrera-Zamarrón (Geophysics Institute, UNAM), and Eric Morales-Cacique (Geology Institute, UNAM) was formed.

A first informative meeting was held on September 13th, 2013, where the participants decided to promote the idea of the Mexican chapter and to organize a meeting for its creation in early January of the following year.

Finally, on January 24th, 2014, the foundational meeting was held at Tlayolotl Auditorium, in the Institute of Geophysics of UNAM. In this meeting the mission, goals, activities and structure of the chapter were discussed, and the initial executive committee was elected.
