InterPore Italy Meetings – InterPore Italy Kick-off Meeting

The kick off meeting of the Italian chapter of InterPore was held on September 15th in Bologna. The meeting was organized by Prof. Monica Riva and Dr. Monica Moroni and hosted by Prof. Vittorio Di Federico at the Campus of the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna.

After a welcome address by Vittorio Di Federico, Monica Riva gave an overview of the history and mission of InterPore and of its National Chapters and of the steps already achieved for the formations of the Italian Chapter.

The following invited speakers presented a combination of experimental, theoretical, and computational aspects of forefront and multidisciplinary researches in Italy associated with various processes taking place in porous media:

Prof Pietro Asinari (Politecnico di Torino): Molecular insights in water trasport under nanoconfinement;
Prof. Villiam Bortolotti (Università di Bologna): Magnetic resonance for fluids in porous media (MRPM): a multifaceted tool to characterize porous materials of different natures and applications.

The plenum then unanimously founded the Italian Chapter. A lively discussion on current topics in porous media research and future activities of the Italian Chapter was then initiated. A first primary aim of the Italian Chapter will be to foster the multi- and inter-disciplinary exchange between scientists and experts from academia and research centers, local authorities and industry.
