InterPore2020: City transportation in Qingdao

Qingdao is well connected to the rest of world through air, train and ship connections. Once arrived, you will find the city public transportation convenient as well. Perhaps the most reassuring point for those feeling less comfortable with their Mandarin skills: all buses and metros have bilingual (Mandarin and English) station announcements.

Metro

Qingdao has a number of metro lines, of which both Line 2 and Line 3 go by our meeting venue, the Shangri-La Hotel. Line 11 connects Aoshan Bay and Miaoling Road. Line 13 runs between Jinggangshan Road and Dongjiakou Railway Station. Search “Qingdao Metro” in App Stores for more information.

Bus

Buses are another major means of public transportation in Qingdao. The fare for a regular bus is CNY 1. The fare for an air-conditioned bus is CNY 2. You can pay the fare in cash or by mobile phone.

Many bus routes run along the coast including routes 304, 317, 321 and the Tourism Special Line 1 from the west to the east of the city, which passes through major sightseeing places such as the Zhanqiao, Luxun Park, Bathing Beach, Badaguan, etc. Both routes 304 and 321 go by our meeting venue. So, you can easily take a coastal sightseeing tour with a public bus.

Bicycle

Cycling after a long day’s meeting is a perfect way to relax and/or to get somewhere. The seaside is within walking distance from where you can rent a bicycle. Along the bicycle lanes, you can enjoy the May Fourth Square, the Olympic Sailing Center and the Qingdao International Conference Center. There, you can also buy some typical Qingdao products from the roadside market.
