InterPore2020: Poster presentations

Why you should opt for Poster

Presentations at InterPore conference!
Often poster presentations are regarded to be less desirable than oral presentations. Not at InterPore conferences! This was confirmed by results of questionnaires filled out by participants of last year’s conference. At InterPore meetings, the majority of poster presenters will also have the opportunity to present a 3-minute pitch and attract interests of participants to their poster. This has proven to be very effective.

Posters also have a number of advantages over orals:

  • During the poster sessions and beyond, there is more time for interactions and in-depth discussions with an interested audience (oral presentations offer time for only one or two short questions and answers);
  • Poster sessions provide a much better opportunity for networking. Posters will be located in a central location and the provision of refreshments will ensure a well-trafficked event.
  • Movies and extended data can be linked online through a QR code on the poster. Smart authors!
  • For students: they can be considered for Procter & Gamble Student Poster Award (which is not available for oral presentations).

Research has shown that Wi-Fi traffic during oral presentations is much greater than during poster sessions (this suggests that many people are busy with their mobile or laptop while “listening”);

Similar to previous InterPore conferences, three senior scientists will give invited poster presentations. Among them are Stéphane Zaleski, Professor of Mechanics at Sorbonne University and Professor Sebastian Geiger, Director of Research and Director of Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering at Heriot-Watt University.

It’s not too late to join – abstracts are still being accepted for poster presentations!
