The 5th UK InterPore Conference took place at Teesside University on September 2nd and 3rd, 2019. In this meeting we had more than 50 participants from both academia and the industry. The event was a great learning and networking experience for the participants, specially research students. We had 3 invited talks, 22 oral presentations and more than 10 posters.
The conference included sessions on the following topics:
- Session 1: Gas Flow and Storage in Porous Media
- Session 2: Groundwater Challenges and Remediation Technologies Transport Processes in Shale Rocks
- Session 3: Modelling flow processes at pore-scale using Pore Network Modelling Approach
- Session 4: Other applications
- Session 5: Modelling of Transport in Porous Media
- Poster Session
Presented work covered a wide range of applications including those in which porous media processes play a key role. Applications discussed included oil and gas production, grondwater remediaition, CO2 capture and storage, and fuel cells. The meeting provided an exchellent opportunity for the particiapnts to exchange knowledge and ideas for future collaborations in projects related to porous media.
The conference was organised and chaired by Dr. Tannaz Pak of Teesside University. Local organizing committee at Teesside University were Dr. Sina Rezaei Gomari, Dr. Venkatesan Krishnan, and Dr. Martin Fowles.
Invited speakers included Prof. Jon Gluyas of Durham University, Dr. Cees van der Land of Newcastle University, and Dr. Susana Garcia of Heriot-Watt University.
