New Selection Criteria for the 2024-25 Awards Cycle
To ease the award nomination process, and enhance transparency in the selection process, the Honors and Awards Committee has developed the following key criteria to be implemented for the fall 2024 awards cycle. These criteria will be applied to the following awards: Honorary Lifetime Membership Award, InterPore Medal for Porous Media Research, InterPore Award for Porous Media Research, and the InterPore PoreLab Award for Young Researchers.
Each criterion may carry different weights, depending on the specific award being evaluated. The committee also encourages institutional diversity as part of the process.
- Peer Support (nomination package):
- Diversity of letter writers in terms of institutions and career stages, with a focus on those at a similar or higher career level than the nominee.
- A mix of perspectives, not dominated by individuals from a single institution.
- Mentoring:
- Experience in mentoring PhD and MS graduates, undergraduates, and postdoctoral researchers.
- Industry Collaboration:
- Engagement with industry through direct collaborations, joint ventures, or other partnerships.
- Outreach and Service:
- Contributions to public policy, advisory committees, government bodies, or similar roles in advancing the field.
- Publication Metrics & Impact:
- Number of publications, scaled citation metrics (total citations, h-index, i10-index, citations per year), and overall academic impact.
- Research Topics:
- Future potential of research areas relevant to InterPore’s mission.
- InterPore Involvement:
- Active participation in InterPore conferences, organizing sessions, and serving on committees.
