Honorary Lifetime Membership Award

Honorary Lifetime Membership Award

The Honorary Lifetime Membership Award is reserved for individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to porous media science and technology, who are world renowned in the porous media community, and whose contributions are consistent with the aims and ideals of InterPore. A typical nominee has a large number of highly-cited papers, has been (associated) editor of journals, has organized a number of major conferences, has been invited/keynote speaker at many international meetings, has written book(s) on porous media topics, and/or has received some other major recognition/award. More information on the new selection criteria for the 2024/2025 awards cycle can be found here. This award will be given to only one individual per year.

The award consists of a certificate, lifetime InterPore membership, a travel grant of €1,000 for participation in the next InterPore conference and receiving the award in person, and an InterPore rosette.

Nomination packages should include:

  • a nomination letter (maximum length two pages) describing specific contributions of the nominee to porous media research during the last 10 years (not counting the current year). The nomination letter should end with a citation statement; an example: “this nominee has made outstanding contributions to the physics of transport in porous media in several fields, such as non-newtonian fluid flow, drying and imbibition, colloidal transport, mass transfer in wood, and the use of NMR for imaging,”
  • the candidate’s CV (maximum length ten pages),
  • list of publications (emphasizing major achievements in the last 10 years),
  • and up to four supporting letters (maximum length two pages each).

The nominator must be a member of InterPore. Membership is not required for the nominee and those who write supporting letters. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Nominations of truly outstanding candidates are solicited from all branches of porous media science and technology.

The nomination should highlight the most important achievements of the candidate and make clear the contributions to the porous media research community including InterPore. Nominations should be submitted to: nomination@interpore.org.
